9 Modern Luxury Living Room Ideas: A Guide to Contemporary Design Styles

modern luxury modern living room design

Popular in interiors for many years, design lovers are adding this decorative element into their homes to add grandeur to their spaces. Imagine vibrant Moroccan pillows and a zebra skin rug underfoot, grounding sleek, clean-line furniture. A pair of tall bamboo plants or a wall adorned with Balinese masks brings a global twist right into your home.

Add luxury through creativity and personalization

It complements and contrasts with lighter, more reflective elements, like a golden coffee table or a light-colored sofa, creating a harmonious interplay of textures and colors. Stretching across the room’s width, the wood paneling serves as a unifying feature in the open-plan layout. These elements serve not just functional purposes but are integral to the room’s overall aesthetic, adding architectural interest and reinforcing the sense of luxury that permeates the space. In essence, the ceiling in a contemporary luxurious living room is not just a part of the structure but a key element that enhances and defines the room’s luxurious character.

Accentuating Spaces with Decorative Elements

The moldings and walls are all in white, and to make the look even softer, plain white sheer drapes were used to crown the windows. The floors are simple porcelain tiles in light cream, the walls are off-white, and the ceiling is white. The ceiling also has an interesting oval-shaped recess with an oval mirror around the center. It also combines gold-finished hand-railings instead of chrome with glass for a more modern feel. The moldings are painted in off-white, while the ceiling is in plain white finish. The back of the TV has graphicote glass panel with stainless steel edging, while the doors and windows have dark brown powder-coated frames that match well with the wood finish of the furniture pieces.

Layer tonal colors, texture and shapes

Candles, another key decorative feature, evoke a sense of relaxation and comfort. Their varied shapes and sizes – from tall, slender forms to more rounded, robust designs – add visual interest and diversity. Filled with an array of plants and flowers, these vases introduce natural elements and splashes of color, subtly enlivening the room and connecting it to the outdoors. These elements, ranging from ornamental vases to candles and books, are strategically placed to enhance the aesthetic and mood of the space. In contemporary luxurious living rooms, the interplay of textures provides an undercurrent of sensory richness that complements the visual aesthetics. The subtlety of this textural variety brings depth and a tactile dimension to the space.

Luxury Living Room Design Ideas

But, you can cram plenty of pieces of furniture into your living room and still have the modern minimalist feel. Layering up textures and adding accents of wood creates warmth in a sparse, modern living room. Since modern living room ideas are all about simplicity, it’s hard to go wrong with an all white living room idea.

Not only is art a wonderful way to add a jolt of color to your living room, it also creates an extra level of gravitas in the space. Derived from the silkworm, silk has been a symbol of luxury for millennia, prized for its smoothness, sheen, and durable nature. Silk wallpapers, often embroidered or hand-painted, add texture and shine to walls, whereas lightweight silk curtains allow diffused light to pass through, casting a soft glow. Luxury decor often embraces the use of high-end materials that are synonymous with opulence, comfort, and refined taste. Velvet, silk, and cashmere are among the top contenders, each bringing a distinct touch of elegance and luxury to a living room. Lighting, in contemporary design styles, becomes a statement, a piece of art, or a conversation starter.

The thoughtful curation of accent pieces and the incorporation of bookshelves not only enhance the visual appeal but also reflect the personal tastes and lifestyle of the inhabitants. The design philosophy behind these spaces prioritizes a balance between modern minimalism and warm, welcoming elements. Bookshelves often emerge as a standout feature, blending aesthetic appeal with practicality. These bookshelves, integrated into a wooden wall unit, align with the room’s warm neutral palette, emphasizing a sense of harmony and coherence in the design.

Other Spaces

Beige is not the only way to achieve a quiet, understated aesthetic in your living room. Whether you're an experienced designer or a beginner, you can experiment with these elements to create a personalized and esteemed environment. Lastly, the balanced composition in furniture and decor arrangement, with a focus on symmetry and alignment, instills a sense of order and tranquility, key to minimalist interiors. The design likely incorporates clever storage solutions, such as built-in cabinetry or multi-functional furniture, keeping everyday items out of sight. This maintains the clean lines and uncluttered appearance central to minimalist design.

Touches of greenery indoors mirror the lush outdoors, creating a seamless harmony between your chic interior and the natural world. These dazzling additions invite the heavens into your modern living room, flooding the area with natural light and creating a bright, airy ambiance. The best way to use symmetry in a room is by having an architectural feature as a starting or center point, whether a fire surround, a pair of identical windows or even a central table. Get symmetry right in your luxury living space and you can create harmony with ease – and make small spaces feel more tailored. Its modular nature allows for various configurations, adapting to the needs of the living space.

Sofas and chairs are upholstered in high-grade fabrics, ensuring durability and comfort. The room also boasts an impressive abstract painting, which draws the eye and adds a minimalist touch. You might like to also check out our round-up of the best sectional sofas; from versatile modular sofas to the best L-shaped couches and chaise sofa seating. We get that's the minimalist vibe, but what if you have a family of five, that all need a space on the sofa, plus a place to park their drinks, books, and technology?

What you choose needs to be stylish and contribute to the personality and harmony of the space,' adds Mike. ‘Lighting a picture has the double advantage of showing off the work and reflecting light back into the room,’ says interior decorator Nicola Harding, who designed this scheme. Often, these bookshelves are subtly illuminated, possibly with integrated lighting, casting a soft glow over the items and enhancing the collection’s visibility, especially in the evening. An oversized ottoman accompanies the sofa, serving as both a footrest and extra seating. Upholstered in light fabric, it complements the sofa, maintaining a unified design theme.

Understanding Building Layout Architecture Tools & Resources

building layout design

Whether you’re creating your dream home or a business, be that a gym, a daycare or anything else, you can do it with Planner 5D. A 2D floor plan is a type of diagram that shows the layout of a space from above including the walls and rooms. 2D means that the floor plan is a “flat” drawing, without perspective or depth. Floor plans are an essential part of real estate marketing, as well as home building, interior design, and architecture projects. Choose a common standard architectural scale, a metric scale, and more. You can easily change the scale at any time, even after you've started drawing.

Add Architectural Features

Use the 2D mode to create floor plans and design layouts with furniture and other home items, or switch to 3D to explore and edit your design from any angle. When inspecting the space, measure the walls, doors, windows, and existing furniture accurately. If you are creating the layout for an entirely new area, you can look for and survey the buildings in similar areas to use as an estimate in your floor plan. The layout must also take into account accessibility and safety considerations, such as the placement of entrances, exits, and emergency exits. Building layout is like planning where to put things when you’re constructing something.

Easy Collaboration

You can also use Divi AI to build a code snippet library, help with existing code, and add all types of effects, including text animations. For example, if you’d like to add a typewriter effect to our page’s main headline, Divi AI can easily handle it. A dialog box will appear, allowing you to choose the content type (1), what you’re writing about (2), and whether you want Divi AI to apply added context from the page’s content (3).

Plan Office Layouts Easily

This level of foresight can significantly extend a building’s usability and lifespan. Designing a building layout is a meticulous process that requires careful consideration and planning. Despite the best intentions, however, certain common mistakes can drastically impact the effectiveness of a layout. Here, we’ll identify these issues and provide guidance on how to avoid them. Walking along the park offers views of the city from a variety of angles and heights, while the varied landscaping offers changing scenery throughout the seasons.

Floor Plan Drawer

Homes that are spread out vertically are also a great option to design a layout with a strong and purposeful division between spaces. Public and private living areas can be firmly divided between levels. This can be an especially great option for a whole level in-law suite and/or for those who need a large home office.

A floor plan is a scaled diagram of a room or building viewed from above. The floor plan may depict an entire building, one floor of a building, or a single room. It may also include measurements, furniture, appliances, or anything else necessary to the purpose of the plan. In addition to the many classic and historical designs, California also includes many contemporary homes. These houses can vary noticeably in appearance, though many focus on simple exteriors incorporating a wide range of building materials. Available in both one-story and two-story layouts, these homes bring modern design elements into play by increasing the flow between rooms and incorporating numerous windows. This clever 4-story home on a narrow plot in San Francisco was designed by Craig Steely Architecture. The home flips the normal layout of a multi-story house on its head. The top floor, which boasts the best view and incorporates a large outdoor space, holds the main living areas, including the kitchen and dining room.

According to research by Zillow, 81% of home buyers say they are more likely to view a home if the listing includes a floor plan they like. Once your floor plan is built you can insert it directly to Microsoft Word®, Excel®, PowerPoint®, Google Docs™, Google Sheets™, and more. Share your floor plan or blueprint with anyone, even if they don't own a copy of SmartDraw, with a link. Architectural details, such as the placement of doors and windows, are also decided. The result of this phase is a final layout that meets the client’s needs, complies with regulations, and embodies good design. They consider factors like the number of occupants, the activities to be carried out in the building, and the relationship between different spaces.

While many might call AutoCAD as the king of floor plan software, it may not be the ideal tool for everyone. There's no reason to shell out a ton of money for AutoCAD when a software like SmartDraw has almost all the same CAD power for a fraction of the cost. SmartDraw also has apps to integrate with Atlassian's Confluence and Jira. If the building already exists, decide how much (a room, a floor, or the entire building) of it to draw. If the building does not yet exist, brainstorm designs based on the size and shape of the location on which to build.

This is useful for pre-planning the location of your wells and farms, but in some cases you might want to bail out, return to the main menu, and start a new map altogether. On one of my maps the crop fertility levels were so low in my starting region that it didn't seem worth even getting started (you can rely on trade, but I prefer to farm). It’s solely training on Divi’s codebase, making it unique from other large language models. This makes Divi and Divi AI a powerful tool for all types of users, from beginners to seasoned developers.

1.5-story houses make intimate homes that work particularly well for smaller families, individuals, and retired couples. This home size and layout lend itself well to a number of architectural styles, particularly Cape Cod, Cottage, Bungalow, and Pueblo. The RoomSketcher free floor plan creator offers up to five projects, the basic drawing tools, and furnishing items. If you want to create more than five projects or access more features, like 3D models, you need to pay.

This level of living connects to a 2nd story porch in the back of the home. Your new home’s layout and floorplan will directly affect how you live in your home. You can choose to separate public and private areas or opt for an open layout that fosters interaction.

Unfortunately, floor planning software freeware for Windows and Mac is pretty rare, and mostly consists of free trials like in the case of AutoCAD. You can draw plans from scratch or upload blueprints, populate plans with over 150,000 different items, and generate both 2D and 3D models with this free floor plan program. Once you’re happy with your plan, you can then convert it into an impressive 3D model which you can easily share with people online, and export in several different file types. Floorplanner has always been free for schools since we started in 2007.

Most of the symbols, shapes, and icons can be found in our floor plan symbol libraries. Besides, you can draw the symbols and upload them to your own library. Either use a DIY floor plan software or order floor plans from a redraw service. SmartDraw's floor plan software is used by millions of users and over 85% of Fortune 500 companies. Because it's easy to use and offers incredibly powerful scaled drawing features at a reasonable cost.

1 3 Profile Investigator Martyr in Human Design Knowledge Base

1/3 profile human design

Being a 1/3 Projector in Human Design means you have an extraordinary and distinctive role in life. Let’s dive deeper into the interpretations of this profile. Consistent routines provide a sense of security and stability. They can help you manage your energy and establish a rhythm that suits your Generator nature. Your experiences can offer guidance and support to those who are navigating similar situations.

Living Authentically as a 1/3 Projector

It’s so important to know that the Line 1 investigator in you is truly only half of your process. Your 3rd line energy is itching to TRY things out and ‘get its hands dirty’ so to speak. I’m here to learn and be kind to myself through experiencing the ups and the downs. I've learned to be open to all outcomes and take everything as a growth opportunity. To not get down on myself when things don’t “work out”. I’ve never been a hesitant person, ready to roll with the punches but younger me would get hung up on an experience when it didn’t work out so well.

3 Manifesting Generator Profile in Human Design

For example, 1/3’s may be driven to deep dive into the pros and cons of making a big purchase, checking out and comparing a product’s features, and devouring every review they can lay their hands on. Likewise if they’re looking for a good restaurant to visit.

Discovering the 1/3 Generator: A Comprehensive Guide

At the core of Human Design are nine centres, each representing different aspects of human experiences, such as emotions, communication, intuition, and identity. Within these centres are channels and gates, which further refine a person's design. Finally, use your trial and error learning to help others. Your experiences can provide valuable insights and guidance to those navigating similar paths. Lastly, your investigative nature is a powerful tool for personal growth and development. Embrace it, and let it guide you on your journey to self-discovery.

3 Profile - Investigator Martyr

In professional settings, the 1/3 profile thrives in environments that value intellect, innovation, and a willingness to embrace change. These individuals are driven by a passion for knowledge and understanding, using their analytical skills and problem-solving abilities to drive progress and innovation in their chosen fields. They are not deterred by setbacks or challenges, understanding that failure is often a necessary step on the path to success. The third line represents trial and error, experimentation, and a willingness to learn through experience. People with this line are not afraid to make mistakes or encounter setbacks because they understand that failure is an essential part of the learning process.

Sometimes such a Personality, being in the process of excavation, does not notice the action of the Body. Still, because 1/3 is the most self-immersed, self-centered Profile. That is, the Body of the 3rd Line has already entered into some kind of experience, heaped up things, and the 1st Line of Personality sometimes only needs to observe the results. Lastly, view solitude as an opportunity to reconnect with yourself. It’s a time to nourish your spirit, recharge your energy, and realign with your purpose. Third, build regular periods of solitude into your routine.

Experienced Human Design Consultants

These periods provide the space and time needed for reflection and introspection. As a 1/3 Projector, you have a unique set of traits and skills that are valuable and worth celebrating. Living authentically involves aligning your actions with your purpose. If something doesn’t align with your purpose, it’s okay to let it go. Finally, celebrate the transformations you facilitate.

Tips for Navigating Life as a 1/3 Investigator Martyr

There is one Myers-Briggs personality type that stands out as being highly comparable. A significant trait of Reflectors is their difficulty in truly knowing their true nature and authentic self. This is a direct result of always mirroring those around them who they admire, and this is important in the context of the Investigator Martyr profile. It is energetically correct for Projectors – and especially 1/3 Projectors – to need alone time on their journey of self-discovery. It is energetically correct for 1/3 Projectors to need alone time on their journey of self-discovery.

1/3 profile human design

It gives you the capacity for sustained work and makes you a powerhouse of energy. With this in mind, at the end of each of my articles, I attempt to deconstruct the specific component of Human Design discussed with the post, and look for common features with accredited research. In order to avoid burnout created by incorrect obligations, it’s important for the 1/3 MG to resist the impulsivity of their third line, by tuning into and heeding their Sacral response. The 1/3 profile perfectly complements the Pure Generator type. The inquisitive and adventurous nature of the third line perfectly harmonises the Manifestor’s drive to initiate. The Investigator Martyr’s desire for rich knowledge is rooted in a need for security.

However, it’s crucial for them to remember the importance of patience and not rushing the investigative process. Their desire for security in relationships should be balanced with the natural unfolding of getting to know their partner. Interactions with other profiles can also be a source of learning and understanding. For example, interacting with a 2/4 Profile may bring about a dance of depth and openness, while a relationship with a 5/1 Profile could teach the 1/3 Profile about the balance of depth and universality.

Walk into a room and on average one in every five people will be a Projector (20% of the population). We’re not the rarest Type within Human Design, but we’re susceptible to being the most conditioned. Whether you just found out you are a Human Design Projector with a 1/3 profile, or you’ve known this for years, this blog is going to go through the ins and outs of it all. Ann Smyth is a Human Design Life & Leadership Coach for those looking to fall back in love with their lives. The combination of Line 1 and Line 3 in the 1/3 Profile creates a dynamic and resourceful individual who is dedicated to uniquely establishing knowledge and truth. As a 1/3 Projector, waiting for the invitation can be a powerful practice for decision-making and relationships.

As a 1/3 you need to activate both parts of your profile to see it work as a whole. Don’t be afraid to get out there and use your Line 3 energy to figure out what works (and what doesn’t work!) in order to move forward. The very thing that is going to ‘uphold’ the experimental phase. Taking the time to learn what you need to learn before moving into the ‘trial and error’ part. From the outside looking in, it may appear that you’re ‘taking too long’ to make a move. Your alone time and need to learn, plan and feel ready is absolutely necessary.

Individuals with the 1/3 Profile are often seen as pioneers and trailblazers in their fields, unafraid to question the status quo and push the boundaries of what is known. They approach life with a sense of curiosity and a willingness to learn from both successes and failures. While they may encounter obstacles along the way, their resilience and determination ultimately propel them forward on their journey of discovery. In Human Design, the 1/3 Profile, also known as the Investigator/Martyr, combines the energies of both the first and third lines.

Second, remember that being a catalyst for transformation often means helping others navigate change. Use your understanding and wisdom to guide and support others. The ‘3’ in your 1/3 Projector profile indicates a life characterized by learning from trial and error. Fourth, your investigative nature may sometimes lead to feelings of isolation or being misunderstood.

This unique combination of traits can offer valuable insights into your strengths, challenges, and personal growth opportunities. Before we go any further, it is very important to state that there are so many factors in our individual charts that can see the 'generalisations' of Human Design types/profiles/authority change. Not everything we read/learn/hear about our particular charts will always resonate. Our charts don't take into account our life experiences, so there is no way anyone could possibly determine exactly who you are and what makes you tick simply by looking at your chart.

️ London: River Thames Sightseeing Cruise No booking fee London Night Cruises & Boat Tours

river thames cruise london

Take in the best of London’s waterside viewpoints with our Thames River sightseeing cruise, from Tower Bridge Quay to Westminster. We pride ourselves on being a family-run business, ensuring every guest feels welcome the minute they step aboard our boats. Starting in 1999 with just one boat in operation, our fleet has grown exponentially to 20 high-speed Thames river boats, offering services from all major London piers every minutes. Our services cater for everyone from early morning commuters to night-time passengers. There are countless reasons to choose a London River Bus over any other form of transport – choose a Thames river cruise next time you need to travel through London.

Other Unique Thames Cruises

river thames cruise london

In this post, you’ll learn the differences between cruise offerings and hopefully find the one that’s perfect for your upcoming London trip. No matter how you think about the Thames, it’s an important part of London and its history. Goods are still shipped up and down the river at all hours of the day and night, and passengers board boats to journey along its lengths too. In this post, I’ll cover the latter – since you may be considering a Thames cruise during your own London itinerary. Explore London's iconic landmarks from the serene Thames on a river cruise! Unravel the city's intricate history as you traverse from Roman origins to a modern metropolis, connecting its fragmented beauty aboard the delightful Clipper Riverboat.

Sightseeing Cruises

Sign up for our email to enjoy London without spending a thing (as well as some options when you’re feeling flush). The river's path weaves through historic towns -- including Oxford, Windsor and Eton -- before passing through London and to the coast. All our boats are wheelchair, mobility scooter and pram accessible by ramp. All boats, except Star, Storm and Sky Clipper, have accessible toilets and larger boats have baby changing tables. Travelling by river is a great way for families to explore London differently. Save time and money, download the Thames Clippers Tickets app.

Tate Boat

You can combine a visit to the Royal Arsenal development with a cross-river ride on the free Woolwich Ferry. If the ferry isn’t running, there’s another unique way to cross. Today, many of the buildings and spaces are being repurposed as part of an ambitious urban redevelopment project. I love exploring this site, with its historic buildings, waterfront, and (to my surprise) an installation of Antony Gormley’s art. Bonfire Night, or Guy Fawkes Day, is officially on November 5, but the actual lighting of fireworks is no longer confined to one night. Some companies offer special Bonfire Night cruises to see the fireworks at Battersea Park.

After Richmond, you’ll spot several historic houses, including Ham House, Marble Hill House, and Orleans House. The hidden remnants of Alexander Pope’s Grotto are just past Eel Pie Island. From here upstream are some of the best views of old riverside London, not yet concealed and altered by modern developments. Thames River Sightseeing is one company offering a boat tour to the Thames Barrier.

The distinction between the River Bus and other boats can be confusing. The River Bus is part of the Transport for London system and accepts Oyster cards. Boats that don’t accept Oyster cards to board may still let you pay for a paper ticket using an Oyster card. I have always found the people working at the piers to be very helpful. You can use riverboats within the Transport for London River Bus system as part of your tourist day. The Westminster Pier to the Tower of London is a nice ride.

You can also take one of the many transit cruises locals use to commute every day from different parts of the city. Bateaux dinner cruise is no ordinary cruise; it’s an experience. Bateaux combines Thames river sightseeing with elegant, unforgettable dinners and lunches. They offer exclusive seasonal voyages year-round and customized experiences for special occasions, such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter.

Refreshments are available at our onboard café bar from hot drinks to alcoholic beverages and snacks. Please select a cruise below and the discount will automatically be applied for group bookings of at least 15 people. Take a single cruise along the River Thames and see London from a different perspective. Depart from multiple piers, Westminster, Tower, and Greenwich. After the Richmond Lock, the boat may also stop at Richmond. The White Cross pub just before the bridge has a special high-tide door for when the regular door is underwater.

It runs from May through September and offers a chance to see Maritime Greenwich, a UNESCO World Heritage site, from the water. These dinner cruises advertise tempting menus served with a view. Visit London and Transport for London are good starting points for up-to-date information.

Upgrade your journey into work and enjoy taking in the views with a freshly brewed coffee from the onboard café bar. You can travel back to the days when England’s sailors ruled the waves of every ocean aboard the Lady Daphne. Built in 1923, the Lady Daphne is one of London’s historic wooden vessels still sailing. While you obviously can see London’s waterfront, the tour is mainly devoted to learning about English coastal trade and was like spending a day on a boat. Their high-speed catamarans have become one of the best ways to get across London.

While boats continuously traverse both the tidal and non-tidal waters of the Thames River, unlike mainland Europe's buzzy waterways, it is not often on the itinerary for river cruise ships. The majority of cruises available on the Thames River are day cruises on larger boats taking in London's historic sights. River enthusiasts can find overnight cruises up to a week in length on luxury barges like European Waterways' eight-passenger, 117-foot Magna Carta. The London Eye River Cruise allows you to look at London, not from one but two vantage points. Their tour includes a 40-minute circular sightseeing tour to the heart of London along the Thames and a standard entry to the London Eye.

The Transport for London site has multiple pages about river travel, including The River Experience, with details of how to get to a number of popular attractions by boat. Thames River cruises operate regularly from the London Eye near the center of the city to the Royal Borough of Greenwich in South East London. Between the two ends are some of London’s best-known landmarks.

Let me know in the comments, or join the conversation in my London Travel Tips Facebook group. Many landmarks are right on the banks of the river, and that’s why a cruise offers a vantage point to see these iconic buildings. As you’ll read in a minute, you’ll see that cruises are also an excellent opportunity to avoid crowds at the tube. Keep on reading to find out the best Thames River Cruises. Enjoy two full days of sightseeing through London as you cruise along the River Thames and discover the city's landmarks and buildings from a completely unparalleled perspective. From the best River Thames cruises to the lines sailing them, discover everything you need to know about London river cruises below.

Magna Carta's cosy deckplan features four cabins each measuring about 200 square feet, with shower-only bathrooms. There's a saloon-bar, dining areas and sun deck with loungers and a hot tub. Optional excursions, including hot air balloon rides and golf, are extra. Most online searches for a London River cruise will turn up results for short sightseeing voyages on the section of the Thames from Greenwich to Westminster, or vice versa.

The good news is that you can book your entry times for the London Eye whenever you’re ready since the tickets are valid for 90 days from the day you go on the River Cruise. There’s nothing like taking in the beauty of London as you meander along the Thames. Below, you’ll find two sightseeing cruises that show you London’s iconic landmark aboard their boats. A good river cruise for those who want a spot of grub while taking in the sights along the Thames – Bateaux offer a full range of different dining cruises. There’s the lunch, afternoon tea and dinner cruise – or you could really pull the stops out and enjoy their three-course lunch with a live jazz band playing assorted swingin’ classics. It's time to ditch dry land and hop aboard a Thames river boat tour.

However, the Thames River actually meanders 215 miles through eight counties -- from its Gloucestershire source to its mouth in the seaside town of Southend-On-Sea. River Thames cruises are possible on much of the waterway, with the exception of about 25 miles -- between Lechlade Bridge and the Thames Head. Raymond L. Flynn Black Falcon Cruise Terminal: Why You Should Drive to a Cruise in Boston, MA

When you go into port, it’s important that you pack everything you’ll need for the day. After all, getting from the ship to the actual port can be about minutes between getting your card scanned and walking down the pier to land. If you forget something, that means it’s a minute round trip at a minimum. In general tourist areas of the Caribbean and The Bahamas (the most visited destinations for American cruise passengers) can be considered safe.

Due to weather conditions and other unforeseen factors like medical emergencies or mechanical failures, port stops can be changed or canceled. Sometimes one port of call will be replaced by a visit to a different port; other times, a stop will be skipped altogether and replaced with a sea day. Depending on the reason for the modification, your cruise line might or might not choose to compensate you for the change. Yes, you can go back and forth between the ship and shore as often as you'd like, but if your ship is tendering passengers ashore, you might have to wait in line to catch a ride back to your vessel. Dubbed World Cruise Center, the Port of Los Angeles features three terminals. Cruise lines that homeport in the World Cruise Center include Princess, Norwegian and Celebrity Cruises (you'll find Carnival in the adjacent Port of Long Beach).

Late-night port calls throughout the Caribbean and Mediterranean regions are one of the pillars of posh SeaDream's yachting-minded brand. On any one of its typical seven- or 10-night sailings, passengers can expect late evening departures for half of the port calls, and a full overnight another one or two times, particularly in places like St. Barts and Bequia. Having to pull out of port before sundown, when the destination's dining, nightlife and performing arts scene is just revving up.

It offers plenty of time to explore and go have an adventure, while making it back for dinner and evening on the ship. Due to government regulations, ships often do not allow passengers to bring plants, live animals and certain perishable items (produce, meat and dairy products that aren't prepackaged) back onboard. This rule can apply to something as seemingly harmless as a woven palm hat or a leftover apple from your lunch. If in doubt, don't spend your money on something you might end up having to throw away. Some ships will dock or tender passengers within a few steps of major sites and attractions. Others might dock at a large industrial port and require you to walk a distance or take a shuttle or taxi to restaurants, shops and other places of interest.

Celebrity's Summit and Beyond homeport in Cape Liberty, offering itineraries to the itineraries to the Eastern Caribbean and Bermuda. Travel near or far from the port at Cape Liberty with so many options on cruises near you. Cruises from New York sail to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda and transatlantic cruises.

The standard, though, is somewhere between five and nine hours, with a morning arrival and late afternoon departure. This unique Port Canaveral cruise itinerary to Bermuda and Perfect Day at CocoCay on Adventure of the Seas® visits both of Royal Caribbean's private destinations, where paradise is just steps away from the ship. On an eight-night journey, this ship will first cruise to Labadee, the cruise line's private peninsula adventure park and beach. Soak up this private spot by relaxing on the beach, enjoy the destination's signature cocktail specialty, the Labadoozie (a fruity rum cocktail) or opt for a zip line ride that will send you soaring over the ocean.

Is Disney Cruise Concierge Worth it? Disney Cruise Concierge Perks

disney cruise concierge room

There’s no porthole window or balcony to let in the natural light or ocean breezes. When it comes to Disney Cruise Line staterooms, the word “family” is going to mean a larger room that sleeps more people. Our Disney  World Crowd Calendar is the best tool to help you get the most out of your time in the parks.

We stuck to a budget when we booked our cruise for May.

It’s also home to the concierge service team, who can make any additional reservations or book services like nursery care, in-suite dining and special celebrations. When you book a Disney cruise, you have the option to choose from a variety of different staterooms. The cheapest are located in the interior of the ship and have no windows. Those that cost a little more have an ocean view or verandah, and the most expensive rooms are Disney cruise concierge rooms. On most Disney ships, guests staying in a Concierge stateroom get at least one day — if not an entire cruise’s worth — of free onboard Wi-Fi service.

What's it like to sail in a concierge suite on the new Disney Wish? - The Points Guy

What's it like to sail in a concierge suite on the new Disney Wish?.

The concierge room was a little bigger than the inside stateroom.

The type of room you’ll receive when booking at the concierge level will vary according to the ship you’re sailing on, but generally, you can expect a larger room than others you’ll find. This may include a one-bedroom suite, a two-bedroom suite or even a royal suite spanning 1,000 square feet. On Disney Wish, we qualified for concierge access by sailing in a 608-square-foot one-bedroom suite that was just a few doors down from the concierge lounge. It had a master bedroom with a king-sized bed, gorgeous bathroom with a Tangled-inspired mosaic over the bathtub, living room with a couch that converted to a bed and a dining area with a table for four. The divider between the living and dining spaces contained a Murphy bed that pulled down into an additional single bed.

About the 10 Different Categories of Staterooms

Personalized service becomes the norm, as a team of attentive concierges stands at the ready to cater to every whim and desire. As the sun sets on the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, a luxury cruise ship gracefully sails through the cerulean waters. This is no ordinary ship, mind you; it’s a floating kingdom of magic, dreams, and wonders, where fairy tales come alive in the most enchanting way imaginable. Welcome to Disney Cruise Line – a world-renowned for its captivating voyages and exceptional experiences that transport guests into a realm of pure delight and wonderment.

Is concierge level worth it on the new Disney Wish?

It offers an array of unique benefits, such as priority access, exclusive lounges, and special experiences that enhance the magic of a Disney cruise. While the cost is higher than standard accommodations, the value lies in the enriched experience and convenience it provides. Moreover, concierge-level guests have the privilege of accessing private sun decks, which are adorned with comfortable lounge chairs, umbrellas, hot tubs.

disney cruise concierge room

It’s truly an experience I’ll never forget and one of the best meals I’ve enjoyed anywhere. The first night we went to our standard rotational dining restaurant and got to know our servers who’d follow us throughout the cruise. I realized that since we were going to Palo and Remy on a four-night cruise we’d only dine with them twice.

Enjoy the best seats in the house for Disney’s spectacular shows, without the need to queue. You also will receive complimentary popcorn at the onboard movie theaters! If you’re not a Concierge guest, this will run you $4 per bucket of popcorn. When I am not working I love travelling, crafting, photography, playing board games, and planning vacations.

Hotel Reward Programs

disney cruise concierge room

On Disney Wonder, we had a slightly larger 614-square-foot one-bedroom suite that also conveyed concierge benefits. This suite actually felt more spacious than the one on Wish, though clearly has a more classical look. In both cases, we were royally spoiled with space and service compared to a more standard cruise cabin. Port Canaveral, the departure port for several Disney cruise ships, offers an entire lounge with a stocked fridge where concierge guests can wait before boarding starts for that group. To access the concierge level on a Disney cruise, you have to book a concierge room type, and the benefits and upgraded service then convey with that cabin type.

Card Type

Alcohol is complimentary on a Disney Cruise but only during certain times of the day. Every evening between 5 pm and 10 pm inside the concierge lounge, you can enjoy a complimentary selection of domestic and imported beers, wines, and hard liquor. The concierge lounges on both the Magic and Wonder are bright and comfortable and they look out onto the ship with its floor-to-ceiling windows.

On Disney Wish, the lounge had a good-sized bar, plus hot tubs and a small pool deck just for concierge guests. To answer this question, we've sailed in a concierge-level room (twice) to see what exactly all that extra cash gets you on Disney Wonder and, more recently, on the new Disney Wish. Here's what we found out about Disney Cruise Line concierge-level rooms, benefits, service and lounge, and whether or not the perks are worth the additional cost. Once you've tried all the restaurants, found your favorite bars and explored every corner of the ship, a concierge accommodation is absolutely worth considering — if you have the means to make it happen. The upgraded stateroom, concierge lounge and other perks provided with these rooms are a treat to experience while cruising.

Except on debarkation day and for a private Disney character meet-and-greet when we sailed on Disney Wonder in early 2020, the lounge was rarely crowded during our visits. If I go back to the three things that irritated me on prior non-Concierge Disney Cruises, sailing in a 1 Bedroom Concierge stateroom with frequent visits to premium restaurants addressed all of them. Especially if we were traveling with extended family and needed more rooms. You never know how it might be helpful but when it is, you’re sure glad you’re sailing Concierge. The family booked one for the day and the girl left her lanyard in the cabana.

If you have four people in a cabin, storage space is more at a premium, but unless you’re big over-packers, everyone has enough space to store their belongings. The rooms typically sleep four, with a few sleeping five, so larger families or groups may want to consider adjoining cabins if not comfortable splitting up. When you enter the room, you’ll see a queen bed, a couch, a coffee table, and a combination desk/storage unit. There’s a curtain divider guests can use to close the bed off from the rest of the stateroom. Depending on availability, you’ll be able to choose from a standard inside stateroom and a deluxe inside stateroom.

For us, the biggest perks were the advance booking for meals and activities that wouldn't have been easy for a regular Disney cruiser to secure. The evening lounge drinks, free popcorn at the movies, available sunscreen and help from the concierge staff when our plans would change at the last minute (which happened a few times) were also pretty great. In fact, I recommend against it for your first sailing on Disney Wish unless money is no object. The lounges themselves each have a food and beverage area (with a great coffee machine!), along with various seating areas.

Currently, if you’re sailing out of Miami or Port Canaveral, the cheapest sail dates are found in January and February, as well as in September and early-November. Here are some perks and benefits you can expect to receive when staying in a Concierge Level stateroom. From its world-class service and unique dining experiences to Broadway-style shows and immersive kid clubs, Disney Cruise Line is on a level of its own. From the entry-level Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, guests can upgrade to suites, which include at least two bathrooms plus walk-in closets.

Here, every detail is meticulously designed to create an unforgettable journey for you and your family. Below you will find the list of special offerings available for our Concierge Guests. During this magical vacation, we will be your main point of contact for any inquiries or needs. We will also be able to assist you in making reservations, bookings, or any other special arrangements. The Disney Wish Concierge rooms are the most luxurious accommodations with spectacular ocean views and premium amenities and services.

Attendees can hop on a free SMART dream cruise shuttle from 8 Mile to Pontiac.

A team of amateur radio operators also serve as additional “eyes and ears” of law enforcement officials along the Cruise route. The Woodward Dream Cruise is an alcohol-free, family-oriented event. As public safety is paramount, cruisers are asked to obey all rules of the road.

The parade runs northbound along the entire course of Woodward Ave. from Ferndale to Pontiac. Those not participating in the parade are asked to avoid the right two lanes near the curbs. They come out to cruise Woodward every year for the Dream Cruise with this '46 Chevy truck. We love to see all the great family moments happening along the avenue today. During the Woodward Dream Cruise, the SMART Shuttle will be free for everyone who wants to ride. People can catch a ride at any of the SMART RED or FAST bus stops from Eight Mile Road to Pontiac.

Because of the parade’s central route on Woodward, many of the communities that the parade passes through will also be holding their own events in addition to the parade. While the entire parade runs for 12 hours, guests can come and go on their own time. We recommend bringing law chairs, sunblock, water and snacks. Classic cars can get very loud, so anyone sensitive to extreme noises should also pack ear plugs. The event takes place on Woodward Avenue, which spans nine cities and is revered as the "Main Street of America" for car enthusiasts.

The Performance Park Classic Car Show will continue from 8 a.m. Mustang Alley will take place with Ford Motor Co. from 10 a.m. With the entrance starting at Hilton Road at  East Nine Mile Road. Pre-registration is closed but vehicles not pre-registered can enter at about 10 a.m.

The construction on Woodward Avenue from Eight Mile Road to Oakridge Street will pause for the event. To view the official map for the event, visit here. The Woodward Dream Cruise was founded in 1995 and goes through nine Oakland County communities along 16 miles of Woodward Avenue. The event will happen on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. Learn more about the Woodward Dream Cruise at the official event website.
